Description

This 6ft x 4ft Waltons Shiplap Pressure Treated Reverse Apex Wooden Shed provides a useful storage space for your gardens that will stand the test of time. We've vacuumed the preserve into the timber, this creates a long lasting pressure treated panel that is protected against decay. To create a solid structure we've used thick 2" x 1" wooden framing combined with 12mm shiplap cladding to form a robust wall that prevents water ingress.

A classic reverse apex roof line provides extra headroom on the inside, this is perfect for storing taller items such as sports equipment and gardening tools. The reverse apex roof also aids with water drainage, essential for protecting the roof against wood rot. In order to make sure this garden building can withstand daily use, the floor and roof have been crafted from 9mm thick solid sheet board material. Quality mineral felt is supplied with this pressure treated building to add further protection against adverse weather conditions. 100% shatterproof styrene glazed windows are a safer alternative to traditional glass glazing, this is ideal if you have a busy garden or allotment. The single door has been manufactured with ledged framing on the inside, to provide additional support. A butterfly catch is supplied to keep the door closed when the shed is vacant.

Important Information

Our pressure treated buildings come with a 15 year anti rot guarantee* and offer a high level of protection against weather damage, rot, decay and insect attack. For maximum protection, once installed we do advise applying a waterproofing treatment to your garden building to prevent water ingress. All our buildings also include a 1 year manufacturer's guarantee* as standard.

Pressure Treated Buildings

Modern pressure treating techniques are environmentally friendly, using water-based treatments. However gloves should be worn when handling the parts/assembling the garden building.

Pressure treatment is different to externally applied preservatives and top coat treatments. Chemicals are impregnated into the fibres of the wood under pressure. This is done prior to assembling the building at the factory. By fixing chemicals into the wood, pressure treating offers protection against insect attack, chemical attack and natural decay. This treatment gives the wood a green colour. The building should also be treated with a waterproofing topcoat. While the effectiveness of the treatment does not alter without a top coat, the colour does change over time, and that nice green shade will soon turn grey.

  • Our buildings are supplied flat packed as DIY kits with full instructions.
  • It is the customer's responsibility to follow the instructions outlined in Aftercare.
  • All of our buildings are delivered unpainted. The buildings are dressed for display, we don't supply any accessories or shelves featured within the product images.
  • Exact product dimensions are supplied on the listing as we do round off the main size of the building in order to make it easier for customers to find, so please be sure to check the item's specific measurements carefully.
  • All measurements refer to the exterior of the building which includes the roof overhang unless stated otherwise.
  • Our styrene windows are protected using a clear film which will need to be removed after you've installed the building.
  • Delivery times highlighted with an asterisk (*) refer to working days.

15 Year Anti-Rot Guarantee

Our Pressure Treated Garden Buildings come with a 15 year anti rot guarantee. Pressure treating is a chemical process which helps to protect wood against rot and insect damage. There are many different treatment solutions, the most common chemicals used to pressure treat wood are Alkaline Copper Quaternary (ACQ), Copper Azole (CA), and Micronized Copper Quaternary (MCQ).

Safety: Always wear gloves, eye protection and a dust mask when handling wood. Due to chemicals in pressure treated wood, never burn its sawdust or scraps; instead dispose in a landfill.

In order to keep your building looking great, it will need re-treating at least annually. Always use a high quality waterproofing topcoat, applied in accordance with the the manufacturer's instructions. If left untreated the colour will fade from green to silvery grey in approximately 6 months. For more information please refer to the Waltons T&C's.

1 Year Manufacturer's Guarantee

Subject to the conditions set out in the T&C's (Section 8) the Seller warrants that the Goods will correspond with their specification at the time of delivery and will be free from defects in material and workmanship for a period of 12 months.

Aftercare

We want you to enjoy the use of your new garden building for many years. To give you the best chance of doing so, your product needs protecting at the start and maintained during its life. If you're planning a DIY project, please read our Self-Installation & How to Build a Shed advice pages before you start.

BASE

All long-lasting garden buildings will have been built on a solid and level base, either concrete, slabs, a wooden frame or ground level bearers. A flat, level base is essential, for more information go to our How to Build a Shed Base guide.

If your garden building is not level and square when built, it will twist and warp with the natural movement of the wood. The first signs of this are when the doors or windows stop opening and closing properly. You may get issues with the roof and potential gaps in the panels which will allow water in, there may be flex in the floor and probably creaking. Check your base is level in both directions and adjust prior to the build. It will be really difficult to adjust afterwards.

GLAZING

Our styrene windows are protected using a clear film which will need to be removed after you've installed the building.

All Waltons shed windows are designed to fit well, but over time and with the movement of wood, small gaps can appear. Help to prevent this by sealing your windows with a silicone sealant. You can do this either when you build your shed, or add it to an existing one. We've created this video Protect Your Shed - Silicone Window Sealant for guidance.

We've also created these handy Maintenance Guides to help you make the most out of your building, for years to come. Should you require any further advice, you can contact our Customer Service Team on 0800 029 1000 and select Option 3.
