Customer story: Colin and Jill's summerhouse

In warmer weather, a summer house is a welcome retreat to spend your time. The fantastic thing about our summer houses is that you have a blank canvas to work with. With a little care and attention, you can convert it into the perfect space to suit your own wants and needs. And you can’t go wrong with your very own garden pub!

Waltons customers Colin and Jill wanted to create something special in their garden, and chose to transform the 10x8 Helios summer house. We wanted to find out more, and here’s what they told us:

Why did you choose this particular summer house?

We decided on our Waltons summer house after looking around for something of a suitable size for our needs. We had a particular space we needed to fit one into, so the Helios 10x8 was perfect.

What extra work did you do to your summer house?

We laid our base and cabled in the external electrical supply and built a small decking around it. The shed was relatively easy to build and once up we ran our lighting and electrical sockets including USB points.

The shed was then insulated and panelled before painting internally and externally, and final fixing our electrics.

What inspiration did you have for decorating your summer house?

We have kitted it out internally as a pub complete with oak flooring, seating and a bar area, optics and a fridge and simple shelving. We have also added a fire and a jukebox.

How did you collect all of the beer tap plaques?

All the pub paraphernalia are collected from pubs, friends, and eBay. The pictures and clocks have been collected from our travels abroad and antique shops.

Do you plan to use your new summer house all year round? Will you use it to entertain friends and family?

We use the summer house all year round even in winter; we have heating and it’s insulated. We have also upgraded the roof covering to EPDM for longevity.

We love to sit in it during snow and rain as well as the summer. We have a big bbq with family and friends, and it then becomes an overnight B&B!

What a stunning summer house!

A lot of love and attention has been poured into this wonderful Helios summer house to really make it extra special! By insulating their garden building, it can be used throughout the year, whatever the weather.

We absolutely love how Colin and Jill have completely transformed their space to create their very own pub at the bottom of their garden! Have you got a summer house or log cabin that you’ve turned into your very own haven? We’d love to hear from you on our Facebook page.
