Customer story: Havana's Summerhouse

Customer story: Havana's Summerhouse

Nothing makes us happier than seeing a beautiful summer house! It might be just a space to sit back and relax while admiring all the hard work you’ve put into your garden, or your getaway to give you the perfect excuse to work on your hobby in peace. Whatever your reason is for getting a garden building, we love seeing how our customers transform them to suit their needs.

This wonderful summer house was a project that Havana worked on with her dad, and they have certainly done themselves proud! We’re sure you will all agree that Havana’s garden building is absolutely stunning, and really invokes a sense of the sea.

Havana and her dad chose to transform the 9 x 9 Premier corner summer house.

What made you choose this particular summer house?

We chose this summer house because the shape fitted perfectly in the back corner of our garden. As we have a very small garden it was important it didn’t impose or loom over the small space, the three sided front was in keeping with that idea.

A lot of love has gone into transforming this summerhouse!

What extra work did you do to finish your summer house?

Once built, we insulated the walls, plaster-boarded them and then put lining paper and wallpaper over the top. We boarded the ceiling with plaster and lined and painted it, We also insulated the floor and put laminate wood boards down.

Where did you get the inspiration for decorating your summer house from?

Me and my dad are keen sailors and wanted a space that could reflect our interest without our house becoming a shrine to the seas (Mum’s not a massive fan).

So we decided a summerhouse would be the perfect space! The colour scheme is in keeping with the rest of the house’s decor; we built the coffee table and side tables out of old pallets that we got for free, distressed them and added feet to the bottom and custom glass to the top.

What an impressive space!

What are you hoping to use your summer house for?

We use the summerhouse all year round as it has a radiator in it and is very quick to warm up. As our house is open plan there is only one living area, which isn’t suitable when one of the family has guests round. So having the summerhouse creates the perfect entertaining area that is separate but still convenient, we’re hoping to have a game night soon and the space is perfect for that!

What do you think of the finished summer house? Are you happy with the results?

The finished product is stunning and we are super proud when we see it knowing we built it ourselves!

The results are above and beyond what we first thought, once it was built and we had a feel for the space it felt soooo big and we got carried away making it a fully functioning room! It was built in a day by just me and my dad and mum as “chief supervisor”. The decorating took more time but as it’s only a small space it wasn’t overwhelming and now we have a beautiful extra room to our home!
