Our 34mm range features designs in a variety of shapes and sizes. If you're uncertain about which style to go for, read our ultimate guide to buying a log cabin to help you make your choice.

Log cabin thickness

As well as 34mm, our cabins are available with three other log thicknesses: 19mm, 28mm and 44mm. There are many shapes and sizes to choose from in our 34mm range, with designs featuring double-glazed windows, double doors, sliding doors, traditional apex roof and side sheds. The quality timber used is responsibly sourced, combining the rustic appeal of classic cabins with contemporary design elements. This blend of traditional and modern ensures you get the perfect balance of style and practicality.

Our collection of 34mm garden log cabins features a diverse range of structures that can be adapted to serve various needs. The interlocking tongue and groove design provides effective insulation and draught protection, making these cabins ideal for use as a home office. They’re also suitable as fitness and yoga studios, creating a serene environment for exercise and meditation, or as playrooms for children, offering a safe and durable area for adventure and creativity.

However, if you’re not sure that you have the time or DIY skills to build your cabin yourself, then our installation service could be just what you need. Why choose a 34mm log cabin?

A cabin built with 34mm thick panels makes for a high quality, strong and durable garden building that's comfortable even during winter. Designed to retain heat with interlocking double tongue and groove timbers, plus double-glazing, these cabins provide a cosy garden retreat whatever the weather. If you’re looking for a garden building with even thicker panels, browse our range of 44mm log cabins.

Do you need planning permission for a log cabin?

In many cases, you won’t need planning permission for our garden buildings, including log cabins, as they have been designed with 'permitted development' rules in mind. However, planning laws have their nuances and various exceptions and conditions apply, so getting familiar with the specifics is crucial.

A general guideline is to ensure garden structures and extensions don't cover more than half the land around your original house. Also bear in mind that planning permission may be required for cabins intended as sleeping areas. It's always wise to check with planning authorities to be sure, and also have a read of our guide to planning permission for garden buildings.

Building a log cabin

Constructing a log cabin is a job for at least two people who are reasonably capable when it comes to DIY projects. The building process involves these key steps, in order:

  • Ground preparation
  • Setting up the bearers and base legs
  • Assembling the wall logs, as well as installing windows and door frames
  • Fixing the roof joists in place
  • Installing decking and the roof boards
  • Laying the flooring
  • Door installation
  • Attaching storm braces
  • Applying the roof felt and adding the finishing boards.
