Garden sheds for storage
A 7 x 5 garden shed provides ample storage for all kinds of tools and equipment, with enough space to also house bicycles, garden furniture, and more. A 7 x 5 metal shed offers robust and secure storage, making it ideal for use as a bike shed. You’ll find options here made from Bluescope steel and guaranteed against rust and corrosion for 30 years.
7 x 5 wooden shed
Timber also gives you plenty of security and protection from the elements when it comes to storage. The 7 x 5 sheds for sale here come in a range of options, including overlap and shiplap panels. Both these construction methods are watertight, and tongue and groove shiplap joints are also airtight. See our overlap vs shiplap guide for more on both options.
Small garden shed
While a 7 x 5 shed is at the smaller end of the scale, a garden building of this size is big enough to fulfil a range of uses. As well as providing enough space for storage of bikes, tools, garden furniture and lawn equipment, a 7 x 5 wooden garden shed can be used as a cosy ‘she-shed’ or ‘man-cave’. If you’re looking for a small workshop or craft area, or simply a compact garden retreat, a 7 x 5 shed can provide the space you need.

7 x 5 Sheds - more info
A 7 x 5 shed can fit neatly and conveniently into your outside space while offering you plenty of space for tools, equipment or workshop duties. Our metal sheds are easy to erect using proprietary Snap-Tite panels, and if you’re a competent DIYer with an able assistant, you can also assemble a wooden 7 x 5 shed yourself – see our guide on constructing a wooden shed. But if you’d prefer to leave the job to a team of professionals, we also offer a shed installation service. The wood for our sheds is responsibly sourced, certified providers, and we offer a standard 10-year anti-rot guarantee for added peace of mind.
How many sheds can I have in my garden?
Sometimes, one garden shed isn’t enough. For example, some people like to have a larger shed for relaxation or workshop duties as well as a smaller storage shed. There is no set limit on the number of sheds allowed in a UK garden. However, according to planning rules, you need to ensure that the combined square metre measurement of the bases of all sheds, outhouses and extensions remains below or equal to 50% of the garden's total size (not including the area occupied by the house). You’ll be pleased to know that buying and building a shed in your back garden doesn’t usually require planning permission. However, there are some exceptions, along with building regulations to consider, so it’s well worth being aware of the law before you build a shed. You can find more details in our guide to planning permission for sheds.
Does a 7 x 5 garden shed need a base?
Yes, your shed will need to be built on a robust, level base for several reasons. First, you need to provide the shed with a strong footing for stability. Also, you need a base to ensure the ground can support the weight of your shed. Finally, a base will allow for proper air circulation and prevent moisture building up. There are various options when it comes to building a base. These include:
- a Portabase, which can be placed on a concrete surface or straight onto level ground
- a paving slab base, which will be long-lasting and easy to install
- a concrete base, which offers the most permanent solution.
You can read more about each of these options in our guide on how to build a shed base.
Are wooden or metal sheds better?
You’ll find both wooden and metal 7 x 5 sheds for sale here, so you might be wondering which is best. The answer depends on your personal preferences and needs, since there are various pros and cons to consider for either option. For example, a windowless metal shed will provide you with low-maintenance, secure and fire-resistant storage for all kinds of outdoor items. A wooden shed with windows, on the other hand, might be more suitable for your garden aesthetic or workshop needs – although storage will also be an option since quality timber makes for a robust shed, with shiplap or overlap panels providing solid protection from the elements. Think about all your different needs when deciding which is best for you – and you can also read our shed buying guide to help you make your choice.
