Whether you’re chasing the traditional Nordic experience or simply want somewhere warm to disappear to on a cold evening, log cabin saunas combine solid timber construction and a generous interior with the space to add a changing room or veranda.

The heavier timber does more than look the part. Solid log walls hold heat rather than shedding it, which evens out the temperature through a long session and keeps the sauna comfortable to use through a British winter.

The Novi range

The Novi Outdoor Sauna is the starting point, and the rest of the range builds on the same cabin with the additions that make it easier to live with:

• Novi Outdoor Sauna. The sauna room on its own, for gardens where space is the constraint.
• With a changing room. A separate dry room to leave clothes, towels and shoes, worth having if the sauna sits any distance from the house.
• With a veranda. A covered step in and out, in a small or large size, giving you somewhere to sit and cool down between sessions.
• With both. A changing room and a veranda together, which is the closest to a self contained garden retreat.

If you are choosing between them, the question is usually less about the sauna itself and more about what happens either side of a session. A changing room solves the walk back to the house in winter. A veranda gives you somewhere to cool down properly rather than going straight indoors.

Heating your Novi sauna

The Novi range takes both electric and wood burning heaters. Electric heaters bring the sauna up to temperature in around 15 to 30 minutes and are controlled from a wall mounted unit, with Wi-Fi control available so you can start it heating before you leave the house. Wood burning stoves need no electrical supply at all and give the softer heat and the fire tending ritual that many people are really after.

Cube saunas

If your garden is more compact, or you want a contemporary shape in a smaller footprint, our cube saunas use a square plan to give you more bench space in less ground. The heating is identical.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need planning permission for a log cabin sauna?

Usually not. Under permitted development a garden building generally needs to be for domestic use, take up less than half the garden, and stay under 2.5 metres tall if it sits within 2 metres of a boundary. Check the overall height on the specification against where you plan to put it.

What is the difference between the Novi models?

They share the same sauna room. The difference is what is attached to it: a changing room for somewhere dry to leave your things, a veranda in a small or large size for somewhere to sit and cool down, or both together.

Does a log cabin sauna need a concrete base?

Not always. If the ground is already solid and level, the sauna can be built straight onto it. Because these are heavier buildings, it is worth being confident the ground will stay level rather than settle over time.

Can a log cabin sauna be used all year round?

Yes. The solid timber walls and sealed doors and windows are what make these particularly suited to winter use. The exterior needs treating annually with a quality wood treatment to keep the anti-rot guarantee valid.
