Guarantee - Cube Sauna - Thermowood
Treatment Requirements
This Sauna is supplied in Thermo Spruce wood, which is spruce timber that has been heat-treated (thermally modified) to improve its durability and stability.
The spruce is heated to around 160–220°C in a controlled environment, usually with very little oxygen. This changes the structure and chemistry of the timber without adding preservatives or chemicals.
One of the big advantages in a sauna is reduced resin. Ordinary spruce can release resin when exposed to high temperatures, whereas thermally modified spruce generally has much less resin remaining.
Thermal modification makes the timber more resistant to moisture and decay, but it doesn't make it waterproof. If used externally, it will still absorb some moisture and will weather over time.
It will generally turn from its original brown colour to silver/grey if left untreated outdoors.
