Important Information

Our untreated log cabins, once installed, will need treating as soon as possible and on an annual basis in order to receive the 10 year anti rot guarantee*. The log cabin also includes a 1 year manufacturers guarantee* as standard.

Our log cabins are supplied flat packed as DIY kits with full instructions.

It is the customer's responsibility to follow the product instructions and the information outlines within the Manufacturers recommendations.

All of our log cabins are delivered unpainted. The log cabins are dressed for display, we don't supply any accessories or shelves featured within the product images.

Exact product dimensions are supplied on the listing as we do round off the main size of the building in the title in order to make it easier for customers to find, so please be sure to check the item's specific measurements carefully.

10 Year Anti-Rot Guarantee

Our log cabins come with a 10 year anti rot guarantee. Anti-rot protection guards against fungal decay. The guarantee does not cover movement, twisting, warping or splitting of timber products over time.

In order to keep your log cabin in tip top shape and maintain the 10 year anti rot guarantee, it will need re-treating at least annually. Only high quality timber preservatives should be used and applied in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations. This must be done at least annually to preserve the 10 year anti rot guarantee. For more information please refer to the Waltons T&C's.

1 Year Manufacturer's Guarantee

Subject to the conditions set out in the T&C's (Section 8) the Seller warrants that the Goods will correspond with their specification at the time of delivery and will be free from defects in material and workmanship for a period of 12 months.

Delivery times highlighted with an asterisk (*) refer to working days.

Planning Permission

Whilst we work hard to design all of our garden buildings to adhere to planning permission guidelines, we cannot guarantee that planning permission will not be required. Therefore we advise that it is always best to check with your local authorities before erecting a garden building.

Aftercare

We want you to enjoy the use of your new log cabin for many years. To ensure this, it is important your log cabin is protected at the start and maintained during its life.

IMPORTANT: This product comes untreated, to allow the customer to personalise with a colour of their choice. Once installed, it will need treating as soon as possible and on an annual basis in order to receive the 10 year anti rot guarantee. The log cabin also includes a 1 year manufacturers guarantee as standard.

All long-lasting log cabins will have been built on a solid and level base, either concrete, slabs, a wooden frame or ground level bearers. A flat, level base is essential, for more information go to our How to Build a Shed Base guide.

If your log cabin is not level and square when built, it will twist and warp with the natural movement of the wood. The first signs of this are when the doors or windows stop opening and closing properly. You may get issues with the roof and potential gaps in the panels which will allow water in, there may be flex in the floor and probably creaking. Check your base is level in both directions and adjust prior to the build. It will be really difficult to adjust afterwards.

We've also created these handy Maintenance Guides to help you make the most out of your log cabin, for years to come. Should you require any further advice, you can contact our Customer Service Team on 0800 029 1000 and select Option 3.

Log Cabins Cladding Materials

Log CabinConstruction

Our Log Cabins work a little differently! Rather than cladding that attaches to an internal framing, the log boards lock into each other with a tongue and groove joint, board to board, as the building is being constructed. The tongue and groove joint forms a tight seal against the weather, reducing the risk of water ingress and draughts. We offer our cabins with a choice of 19mm, 28mm, 34mm or 44mm thickness, getting stronger and more robust with each thickness.

12mm Tongue &Groove Boards

Toungue & Groove boards make the perfect roof and floor for frequently used buildings as well as those that will be storing heavier items such as work benches, tools or furniture. The boards interlock to form a tight seal, helping them spread the load within the building. We'd always recommend upgrading to tongue and groove boards if you plan to spend a lot of time within the building or if you're storing heavier items.

16mm Tongue &Groove Boards

The thicker Tongue & Groove boards are used for our more premium range of log cabins and insulated rooms. Working in the same method as the 12mm boards, the weight from your belongings is shared between the interlocking boards. Ideal for holding heavy office equipment, exercise machines or large pieces of furniture, these thick interlocking boards will remain strong and robust.

Log Cabins Glazing Styles

Our GlazingStyles

DoubleGlazing

Double glazing is constructed using two panes of glass, separated by a small gap. Our double glazed windows offer excellent heat retaining qualities and greater sound proofing, and by upgrading to double glazing, you increase the year-round usability of your building!

High StrengthSAN styrene

High strength SAN styrene glazing is a thick and strong material that while being safe and shatterproof, gives the visual appearance of glass. This premium styrene offers great value without comprising on the look.

Not only do shingles provide a strong, heavy-duty and effective barrier of protection, they look great too! Adding a premium and stylish finish to your building. This product is available as an upgrade across our range and comes in multiple colours and designs.

Superior DutyFelt

Superior duty felt is designed to protect your building against whatever the weather can throw. Our heavyweight felt is 50% thicker than standard felt, with a glass fibre and bitumen base. Ideal for buildings in an exposed area it provides a tough, durable and weatherproof membrane.

Natural Wood Characteristics

Natural Wood Characteristicts

As wood is a natural material it may be affected by the following:

Shrinkage & Warping

The timber used in the construction of your garden building will have retained some of its natural moisture content. The moisture content of the timber will vary, depending upon prevailing environmental conditions, which will result in the components either naturally expanding or contracting. As the components dry out shrinkage may occur. A good waterproofing treatment from the start is the best protection to minimise the effect of moisture loss/intake.

Damp & Mould

During the winter months, cold and damp conditions can result in an increased amount of moisture within your garden building, especially when used infrequently. Condensation can form on the timber and other items stored within your garden building. If left this moisture is likely to cause mould and mildew. To prevent the build-up of moisture, we recommend leaving the door or windows of your building open from time to time, to allow the fresh air to circulate. We also advise against storing wet or damp items in your garden building as this will also increase the level of moisture in the building. If mould or mildew does start to form within your building we recommend using an anti-mould cleaner to remove it and to prevent it spreading, which if left untreated could permanantly damage your garden building.

Splits, Cracks & Knots

Small splits and cracks in some components or holes may appear where knots shrink and fall out. This will not affect the structure of your garden building however if you wish to fill them this can be easily done using any good quality wood filler

Sap

Sap is naturally occurring in wood and may appear in some boards of your garden building. If you wish to remove the sap, we advise waiting until it is dry and then using a sharp knife to carefully remove it. If the removal of the sap causes a hole in the timber, we recommend using a good quality wood filler to fill it.

Please be aware that these are natural timber characteristics which in most cases will not impact the structure or function of the garden building, therefore are not considered as product defects (as outlined within our Terms & Conditions). If you require further advise or information please contact our friendly Customer Services Team.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I choose a delivery slot?

We will contact you on the morning of your confirmed delivery date by email and/or SMS with a 2-hour delivery time slot. We aim to meet these delivery times but during busy periods, deliveries may take a little longer, however we always work hard to keep delays to a minimum.

What access is needed for my delivery?

Our drivers are only contracted to provide kerbside drop offs and deliveries. They will NOT bring any of our orders through your home. A driver may offer to take an order further; for instance a back garden but this is ONLY at their own discretion. If you have added our installation service to your order please be aware that they will require full access to your garden. Our installation team will not bring a building through your home as they are not covered by insurance to enter a customer's home. If you have any questions about access or you live in a restricted access zone please contact our sales team on 0800 029 1000. Our team will be able to provide you with more information and specific building information.

Will I need to help my delivery driver?

Our drivers DO NOT need your help during a delivery. They will not ask for your help and they can manage all the items themselves. We are not insured to cover any customer injuries and therefore we ask you NOT to help or try and help our drivers while they make a delivery.

How are log cabins delivered?

Log cabins usually take a bit longer to deliver than most of our other products. This is because they are put into production when ordered. You should expect to receive a delivery call within 28 working days of placing your order. Please allow enough time for our team to call you.

Our log cabins are delivered on the back of various different sized vehicles, depending on the size of cabin. Generally, the largest sized vehicle we deliver on is a 17 ton truck, which is the same size as a dustbin lorry. The windows and doors are pre-assembled. The wall roof and floor pieces will be offloaded one piece at a time. Please remember that this is kerbside delivery only, so the customer will be required to move the parts to the rear of the property.

There must be sufficient space for the vehicle to operate safely. If you are worried about your home not being easy to access please contact our team on the number or e-mail address below.

All Waltons deliveries are all kerbside ONLY. Our drivers are helpful and will always try and place the building in a convenient position for you. It is entirely at our driver's discretion if they decide to move the building somewhere inside your property. They are not authorised to deliver items through someone's home.

Please always provide the most convenient telephone number when placing your log cabin order. Our drivers may need to contact you about your delivery a few days before it's due. Also our drivers call 30 minutes before delivery.

If you want to contact our delivery team about a log cabin delivery please call them on 0800 029 1000 and choose option 2. Alternatively, send our delivery team an email to service@waltons.co.uk.
