Customer story: Sammie’s summer house

Customer story: Sammie's summerhouse lead image

When Sammie and fiancé Gary moved into their new home 18 months ago, they had their work cut out deciding how to tackle the sorely neglected, 180ft-long garden. With their first baby on the way, it was clear they had to tame this wild outdoor space and transform it into a pleasant and safe environment for their new family. Including a summer house in their plans made perfect sense.

Sammie and Gary opted for the 12 x 6 Maine Summer House with Side Shed from Waltons. Here’s what they did with it…

Sammie and Gary’s garden had been neglected by its previous owners.

Why did you choose this particular summer house?

As soon as we cleared the space down the end of the garden I instantly knew it was made for a summer house! We are really social people and we thought a summer house would be perfect for summer evenings.

We fell in love with the Maine Summer House from Waltons because it comes with a side shed, which is such useful space! You can even choose which side it goes on, which I think is brill!

I definitely wanted one that looked aesthetically pleasing but also was practical and I think this ticks both boxes! It also needed to be well built and good quality.

Sammie chose to have her summer house professionally installed by the expert team from Waltons.

How did you picture the summer house fitting in with your lifestyle?

We’re very social people and have family over often so we knew we’d use the summer house all the time! We’ve even put a fire pit on the patio in front of the summer house for those cooler evenings and some blankets for keeping cosy. Perfect for bbq and pizza oven nights!

It’s also a perfect spot for some peace and quiet to enjoy a book, and just an extra space to enjoy with my daughter Elsie.

Even before painting and decorating, Sammie’s vision for her summer house was clear!

How did you choose the ‘warm clay’ colour for your summer house?

We ADORE the colour – as soon as I saw this colour I knew it would transform the summer house and I was right! I saw lots of lovely inspiration on the Waltons Instagram page.

How else did you choose to customise your space?

I have added a beautiful rattan sofa and table, with side table, lamp and a basket full of blankets! I’ve also added a rug and some accessories, and plan on adding some pictures.

Sammie’s colour scheme brings a touch of Mediterranean style to her garden.

You opted for the Waltons installation service. How did you prepare the area in advance, and how did you find the installation service?

We made sure the ground was level and then slabbed the area. The installation process was fab, really straight forward and the installation team were friendly, efficient and fast!

What do you think of the finished product?

We absolutely love it! Better than we imagined and it will only keep getting better the more we use it.

Would you recommend getting a garden building and why?

Yes, 100% – we love being outside and bringing the outdoors in, and the summer house is perfect for this! We can spend time in the garden but also have some indoor space. It’s also made the garden look finished!
