Can you put a playhouse on grass?

If you put your playhouse on grass, you must ensure it’s constructed on a level base. A base is usually made with wood, paving or concrete. Grass alone is too uneven and can misalign the pieces, resulting in weather damage.

Do I need planning permission for a playhouse?

You don’t usually need planning permission for playhouses, but it’s important to confirm this with the local planning office. You can read more on our garden planning permission guide.

How to decorate a playhouse

There are hundreds of ways to decorate your wooden playhouse. Start by considering what your children would enjoy the most. Do you want to turn it into a princess palace or a pirate’s cabin? Paint the outside and decorate the interior with rugs, furniture and battery or solar-powered lights. Don’t forget blankets for warmth and storage boxes to keep it tidy.
