Encourage outdoor play
A playhouse with a wooden climbing frame is an excellent way to encourage independence and confidence in young children. It helps them learn how to grip and balance, increasing their coordination skills and strength. Swings are an incredible play option for developing muscle control and rhythm, not to mention they’re fun! Keeping children entertained can be difficult and expensive. It’s not long before you’ve run out of ideas and tell them to get some sunlight. But they constantly come back inside saying they’re bored! A playhouse with a wooden climbing frame encourages children to leave their computers and spend time outdoors.

Treat the wood with weather protection, and decorate with outdoor paint so the colour stays bright all year round. Use a mild detergent and damp cloth to remove marks gently. Does my playhouse need a base?
Yes, every playhouse needs a base for support and stability. The structure may be less sturdy without one, creating gaps and leaving it open to weather damage. Our article, ‘how to build a shed base,’ has easy and practical tips to help you get started.
How should I decorate a playhouse?
You can decorate a playhouse however you like – there are no rules! If you want a bright, colourful playhouse, choose red, pink or yellow. Add stencils, like giant flowers or a skull and crossbones, for a statement look. Or keep the wood's natural finish and paint the window frames for a pop of colour. Remember to give the inside some thought with snuggly blankets, cushions, toys and solar or battery-powered lights.
