4m x 4m Log Cabins – more info
A 4m x 4m cabin can provide you with the additional living space you need while also giving your garden added charm. Perfect for making the most of secluded spots, these traditional-yet-modern garden buildings serve as welcome escapes for both productivity and leisure.
The adaptability of these buildings also means that given proper planning, they’ll fit well with your garden’s existing layout. You can choose to build yours yourself, or take advantage of our installation service if you prefer to leave the job to someone else.
Can you use a log cabin all year round?
Absolutely – you can enjoy your log cabin in all seasons thanks to the solid construction and interlocking panel design offering durability and protecting you from the elements. There are a number of ways to make it even more hospitable, though, such as installing efficient heating and insulation. Regular maintenance will help to keep your garden building usable throughout the year. Making sure the wood is properly treated and protected is especially important.
How do you insulate a log cabin?
Insulation goes a long way to helping you regulate the indoor temperature, and there are a number of options when it comes to materials. For example, you could opt for:
- Bubble wrap – easy to fit but not as effective as some other methods
- Rockwool – good at insulation but more difficult to handle
- PIR insulation boards (e.g., Celotex, Kingspan) – popular in the construction industry and readily available
- Natural wool options like Thermafleece – environmentally friendly and safe to handle.
- Plasterboard
- Hardboard
- Plywood
- Tongue and groove panels
- Pallet board
How do I maintain my log cabin?
The quality timber and construction of our garden buildings mean they’re built to last, and they have the benefit of a 10-year anti-rot guarantee. However, regular maintenance is essential in keeping your cabin in tip-top shape for years to come.
Start by regularly inspecting for leaks, particularly around windows, doors and the roof, as water infiltration can lead to significant damage. Treat the wood annually – or more as required – with a quality sealant to ward off damage. Good ventilation is also crucial to prevent the build-up of damp and to eradicate the potential for mould, so make sure there’s enough airflow around and through your cabin. You can do this by adjusting the layout inside, by installing air vents and ensuring windows and doors are opened regularly.
